Presenter of Wood Awards 2010 confirmed

Sir Jeremy Dixon of Dixon Jones, will compère this year’s Wood Awards at the Carpenter’s Hall on the 21st October 2010. Winner of the 2009 Gold Award for London’s Kings Place Concert Hall, Sir Jeremy will be joined on stage by representatives from the winning and highly commended projects in each of the five categories; Commercial & Public Access, Conservation & Restoration, Private and Small Project, Structural and Furniture.  He will also present the coveted Gold Award to the winner of winners.  

Sir Jeremy comments, “It is a privilege to be asked to return to the Wood Awards and present this year’s event. There are some truly outstanding projects in the shortlist which reflects the high level of skill and craftsmanship of British architects and furniture makers. As a previous winner I am a huge supporter of The Wood Awards and the role it plays in the promotion of wood in all areas of design and architecture.”  

Dixon will present trophies crafted by wood sculptor Ray Winder in American hard maple provided by Rossi American Hardwoods and the American Hardwood Export Council, a longstanding major sponsor of The Wood Awards.  

Now in its eighth year, the Wood Awards continues to promote the many benefits and uses of wood, the world’s only naturally sustainable material. This year’s shortlist showcases the wide ranging uses of wood, from fabulous bespoke furniture to outstanding public buildings.
