New fire guidance from Epic

The issue of fire can be a very emotive one, and professionals in the construction industry need clear and unequivocal guidance on how products will perform in the face of fire.  Industry body EPIC has just released a new guidance document on the fire safety and performance in fire of insulated panel systems, which for the first time links the results and findings of small and medium-scale fire tests directly to the analysed performance of insulated panels in real fires

Both testing and years of industry experience have proven the performance of PIR cored insulated panels in case of fire, and the extensive research undertaken by EPIC confirms this with compelling evidence from real fire scenarios.

First published in 2002, the EPIC Fire Guide has proved to be a popular and invaluable tool for all professionals associated with insulated panels, from building professionals to members of the Fire Services and the Insurance Industry.  The new guidance document has been fully updated, based on EPIC’s ongoing research and supported by assistance and knowledge from Tenos Fire Safety Engineering. Filled with information on current legislation and illustrated by case studies, the 2011 Guide will, like the earlier EPIC Fire Guide, prove to be an indispensable mine of information.

Of particular interest is the completely revised section linking testing to real fires, including case studies showing the performance of insulated panels subject to external attack, such as arson, and of insulated panels spanning fire resistant compartment walls.

Available to download from the EPIC website either in sections or as a complete document, the guide provides over 60 pages of detailed analysis covering the regulatory requirements for and fire performance of insulated panels.  To download your free copy, or for more information, please visit: www.epic.uk.com
