The first set of results of 2010 from the RIBA Future Trends Survey have been announced. 
January's results resemble those from December 2009, showing another decline in optimism across aspects of the industry such as workload and staffing.
The number of practices expecting their workload to increase has decreased 10% over the last two months. 38% of practices expected workload to increase in November 2009 with that figure now standing at 28%. However, the number of practices expecting workload to stay the same increased slightly from 52% in December to 53% in January.
More positive news revealed that most practices anticipated staffing levels to remain the same. The number of practices predicting an increase remained at 5%.
28% of respondents said they were personally underemployed in January - an increase of 5% over December 2009 figures.
